Claire E. Hughes, Ph.D.
Claire Hughes is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Bellarmine University with expertise in the areas of learning disabilities, autism, and gifted education. Her research interests include “twice-exceptional” children, or gifted children with disabilities, and multi-cultural education. She is a past-Chair of the Research and Evaluation Division of the National Association of Gifted Children and is a contributing editor of several professional journals. She lives in Louisville, Kentucky and is married to James (Iakovos) Lynch who was raised in Athens, Greece, and whose mother is Greek. They are raising two children in a multi-cultural environment to be “citizens of the world”. In Goneis, Claire hopes to assist families from Hellenic backgrounds who are trying to navigate the educational system.
