Bug Zoo is an exclusive line of Children’s clothing developed and manufactured in South Africa and is now taking off in the Children’s Boutique market in the US. It is turning a lot of heads and creating a stir amongst those Boutique owners looking for something fun, fresh and exciting.
Boy’s fashions remain boyish and cool and boast soft cotton, twill, canvas and peach-skin fabrics with no itchy tags or scratchy seams, inside or out. All fabrics are made from pre-dyed 100% cotton and cotton blends. The pre-dyeing process is not often found today and while it is more costly and time-consuming, it makes for a garment that will not lose its shape or color as quickly as garments that are over-dyed. Bug Zoo has developed an excellent reputation in the industry for high-quality pre-dyed clothing that lasts. All garments are also double-stitched, so if a thread is snagged, stitching remains intact and the garment can still be worn without coming apart. All clothing is made with creative expression, unique design and fun-filled energy.

Started in 1990 in Cape Town, South Africa, Bug Zoo has continued over the years to develop a reputation for producing quality cotton children’s clothing and is today a premier exporter to 17 countries worldwide and is becoming a known and well-loved brand in many households. Designs are whimsical and show unrestrained imagination and inspiration, while not being too outrageous, but still different enough to be noticed.
Current fashion trends remain fashion forward, being modeled after Europe, and include breezy voile, lightweight, flowing fabrics and designs, the popular gypsy look and the newly resurrected bubble skirt. Waists have adjustable waistbands which are most sought after in children’s clothing today as well as colors that include currently popular varieties, yet unique shades of those colors. Bug Zoo also has their own signature favorites that are carried through from season to season, among them being the popular infant girl’s princess dress with matching leggings and the infant boy’s “story shirt” which ties in with the theme of any given season - 2006 winter featured a “Space Bug Story” Hoodie and 2007 summer features a “Sea Story” T-shirt.
Each piece in the collection is made for mix and match, so two tops with one bottom can make up two outfits. Skirts, dresses and pants are also designed to be layered giving a chic and funky look to pieces that can also be worn alone.
