We continue to explore the Barron family’s beautiful home in this issue.  Last time, we took a tour through the kitchen, breakfast nook and powder room. Now, we walk through the formal living and dining areas, and the office, all of which are on the main floor. These rooms continue the theme of neutral coloring, wooden floors, and plush fabrics and textures. The fine, rather eclectic taste of the Barrons is reflected throughout.

There is one large room that accommodates the formal living and dining areas. Perhaps the most unexpected feature in this room, and very striking (against the paler walls), are the ceiling rafters. Comfortable sofas, in gorgeous silks and damask, are strategically scattered around a fireplace for an inviting look. An ornate mirror rests above the fireplace. The chandeliers are lightweight and unusual. Side- and coffee-tables have a rustic finish and hold lamps in varying sizes. On the other side of the room is the dining area with leather chairs that accompanying the wooden table. There is a china cabinet and a buffet table in different types of wood. All the rugs are simple and plain. The entire room can be summed up as one that comprises a vast variety of earth tones….from cream to taupe to a rich coffee. Practically every piece has a different texture, and yet, everything is in harmony. The artifacts on display are exquisite and unique. The only splashes of color come from the green foliage and the two large, vibrant paintings that adorn the walls. French windows with dark frames provide a pleasing view of the garden.

From here, arched doorways lead the way into other rooms, one of which is the office. This room, just like the living/dining room, is a sight to behold. No mark of comfort or aesthetics has been forgotten here. The walls are a darker taupe. The windows feature elegant curtains in a shade and delicate pattern similar to the carpet. A large, solid oak bookcase holds reading material and artifacts. This room, while dark, has beautiful lamps for plenty of light to work with. Comfortable seating around a coffee table allows one to relax and enjoy this special room.

We will look at the rest of this lovely home, including the Master suite and the garden, in our next issue. We hope you will enjoy another look at this house, which is a prime example of the wonders that can be accomplished when color, comfort and beauty are well thought-out.
